Sundays @ 10.30am - Dynamic Hatha Flow Yoga: Energise and Balance

This Sunday morning Hatha Flow Yoga class is a flowing style of yoga that is fun, enjoyable and energising. Susan combines a blend of dynamic asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork) and a short relaxation. The session will often start with a flowing sequence called Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) that warms the body up and moves the spine through its natural series of curves. Then the asanas include standing postures, balances, seated postures that work on areas such opening the hips or lengthening the hamstrings as well as sometimes inversions (basically, we turn ourselves upside down). This class is set in the beautiful Ambassador Room at The Lightbox art gallery in Woking - right in the heart of the town centre. The room has a floor-to-ceiling window with stunning view over the leafy canal. This is a mixed level class. The perfect start to a Sunday morning. Plus you can then enjoy a coffee or lunch in the Lightbox cafe after class.

WHAT IS  HATHA YOGA?

Hatha Yoga is a style of yoga that includes a mixture of asanas, breathwork and guided relaxation. All my classes are based on Hatha Yoga but I teach a number of variations in styles and energy levels to suit different times or day and different purposes.

Dynamic Hatha Flow: A more energised Hatha Yoga class that also includes a number of flowing sequences such as Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) as well as vinyasa flow sequences and some stronger Ashtanga-based asana.

Relaxed Hatha Yoga: is a gentle flowing style of yoga that is suitable for all levels.

Slow, Soft and Subtle Yoga: is a yoga for self-care including a number of Yin and Restorative yoga poses as well as plenty of subtle movements and

Hatha Yoga with Susan

Do you want to de-stress, relax and become more energised? Do you want to become stronger, more flexible and toned? Yoga brings a massive wealth of benefits to the physical body. Even when practiced just once per week people see great benefits in their overall heath and fitness, let alone the benefits to their overall well-being.

A typical yoga class with Susan will last around 60 minutes. Yoga is very accessible in that you really don’t need much equipment (or even shoes!) to give it a go – just a yoga mat, a bottle of water and a class to attend. Depending on the time of day and the students in the class, the yoga practice will be adapted to

Susan will usually begin by setting the intention for the session, welcoming students and focusing on establishing correct breathing. This can be as simple as a sentence or two to calm the mind, to a series of exercises designed to control, regulate and elongate breathing patterns (pranayama). Then she will start moving the class through a series of postures (asanas) by demonstrating or talking students through it. The postures sometimes start with a flowing sequence called Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) that warms the body up and moves the spine through its natural series of curves or softer flowing mobility movements. Then the asanas include standing postures, balances, seated postures that work on areas such opening the hips or lengthening the hamstrings as well as sometimes inversions (basically, we turn ourselves upside down). All classes with me finish with either a short relaxation or longer guided relaxation (Yoga Nidra). All my classes welcome beginners as well as experience yogis. Please read the class descriptions to find out what style of yoga I teach when.
