I was introduced to this piece of writing a few years ago on one of my Yoga training courses with the lovely Uma Dinsmore-Tuli of Womb Yoga. She read this blessing out after a Yoga Nidra and I thought it was a really wonderful piece. I occasionally return to this myself but also share this in workshops and classes. So today I would like to share this piece with you here on my blog.
When the rhythm of the heart becomes hectic,
Time takes on the strain until it breaks;
Then all the unattended stress falls in
On the mind like an endless, increasing weight,
The light in the mind becomes dim.
Things you could take in your stride before
I saw this poem in a book I was reading recently and thought I would share it for all the mamas that read my blog and visit my website.
A mother's definiton of success
From the moment you hold your baby in your arms,
You will never be the same.
You might long for the person you were before,
When you had freedom and time,
And nothing in particular to worry about.
You will know tiredness like you never knew it before,
And days will run into days that are exactly the same,
Full of feeding and burping,
Whining and fighting,
Naps, or lack of naps.
It might seem like a never-ending cycle.
But don’t forget...
There is a last time for everyt...
