YOGA CLASSES SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS

I no longer teach yoga classes especially for beginners as most of my yoga classes are mixed classes that are perfect for those new to yoga to join.

I appreciate that for those new to yoga it can be quite intimidating to attend a class with seasoned yoga practitioners and classes can feel a little fast (with lots of Sanskrit words that are unknown). However all classes I teach are welcoming, encouraging and friendly. Plus, I actually find that people get the best progression in a class with mixed ability. Don't forget that I am always open to explaining and discussing any yoga movement or posture with all students before or after class (and sometimes during too!).

Please find listed below the classes in my regular schedule that I feel are the best suited to those new to yoga. You are welcome to try any of the weekly regular classes for free to see if you like it. Just use the code FIRSTFREE when booking online.

Sundays @ 11.30am - Slow, Soft and Subtle Yoga: Yoga for Self Care

A 60 minute yoga class perfect for those suffering from stress, anxiety, fatigue or anyone needing a really good dose of self-care and rest (HINT: that is everybody!!).

 

This is a slower-paced yoga class including a mixture of soft and subtle yoga movements, Yin Yoga poses (where softer poses are held for longer periods), pranayama (breathing exercises) and ends with a 10-15 minute deep relaxation (yoga nidra). A real chance to slow down, reflect and mentally engage with the body, mind and spirit. Give yourself permission to rest with me as we explore the slow, the subtle and the soft through yoga.

This class is set in the beautiful Ambassador Room at The Lightbox art gallery in Woking - right in the heart of the town centre. The room has a floor-to-ceiling window with stunning views over the Basingstoke canal. You can then enjoy a coffee or lunch in the Lightbox cafe after class.

Note: This class replaces the beginner's 11.30am class on Sundays at The Lightbox BUT is very much suitable for beginners and those returning to yoga after a break as well.

Other info: Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water. Please bring your own yoga mat, or email Susan to request to borrow a mat. I would also recommend bringing a cushion and blanket for the relaxation and any yoga blocks of bolsters that you have at home. Please use town centre car parking - there is a car park right next to the venue.

Wednesdays @ 8.15pm - Relaxed Hatha Yoga

Relaxed Hatha Yoga is a gentle flowing style of yoga that is fun, enjoyable and energising. Perfect for a post-dance stretch out or for busy parents to unwind after the kids have gone to bed. Susan combines a blend of dynamic and flowing asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork) and ends with a short relaxation. This class is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced yogis.

First Friday of the Month (7-8pm) - Relaxed Yoga and Yoga Nidra Class

In this monthly class in Woking, we aim to explore the active practice of relaxation through yoga and yoga nidra. Each class will include a combination of gentle yoga postures (asanas) and breathwork (pranayama) as well as a 20 minute guided relaxation (yoga nidra). Suitable for all levels.

Venue for 2018: St Johns Memorial Hall, St Johns Lye, Woking GU21 7SQ

Price: £10 per person

Notes: Please bring a yoga mat and a blanket.
